LETTER FROM THE DIRECTOR
22nd October 2009
Dear Parents and Pupils,
The EBIS community has a lot to be PROUD of this week. Students, your organisational skills have improved as you are visiting your lockers during assigned times and are arriving to classes prepared. Notebooks are being used appropriately; colours and hygienic supplies are available in all classrooms. I would like to remind students to speak in English at all times, especially in the hallways. As a result of the hard work and preparation of our wonderful faculty, and the responsibility and dedication of our terrific pupils, exciting lessons are taking place everywhere. Two of just many examples are Ms. Morsey’s year two classes learning how to calculate money by buying and selling and Ms. Daftedar’s year 7 science classes are dissecting frogs to study organ systems. Learning is happening everywhere and I am PROUD of our students of taking every opportunity to excel. Have a restful weekend.
EBIS Read-a-thon
The EBIS read-a-thon has begun! When you finish a book, see your English teacher to receive your turtle. The more books you read, the more house points you earns!
School Hours
Beginning November 1st, EBIS will return to its official school hours 7:30a.m. until 3:00p.m. Our students have used the extended school hours to become familiar with the school system and advance in their curricula. We are now on track.
House Points
I am proud to announce that England has moved from last place to TIED for 1st place with Northern Ireland. Scotland is still in 3rd place with 84 points. Wales is not far behind with 76 points. Students, you are doing a great job of pulling together. Please make sure to take that extra step to earn a house point. Don’t forget that Wow Words and Profound Quotes are two ways that you can earn House Points. Give them to your Housemaster on Thursday during registration. Congratulations England and Northern Ireland students!
Emergency Cards
Parents, if you haven’t already, please return your child(ren)’s Orange Emergency Cards with your updated information ASAP. These cards help us contact you quickly when the need arises. Thank you.
Yours in Education,
Rania El-Sioufi, Director
