| And use the organizer I gave you and posted on the Forum.
An essay is not a summary. You are answering the topic question using "evidence" from the story. |

You find examples from the novel to prove each point. Then you use the essay organizer and type your points in paragraphs. This is your first draft. You need to submit your essay organizer along with your first and second drafts. Send your first draft to me so I can make suggestions. |

List your topic and concluding sentences and the quotes from the novel to prove the point you want to make. The planner is sort of like how we used the story board to plan your ending to IN the Dragons Claws. Good writing is planned and organized. Hope this helps |

without any questions i think The topic is posted on the Forum. Here it is again: Assignment: Your task is to write an essay on the following topic, or one of your own. If you choose to invent your own topic, make certain to check with me before beginning. Be sure to follow the tips outlined in “Writing in English”: brainstorm, complete the essay organizer, write a first draft, and keep all of your edited work in a separate file. The late 19th century was a time when many people believed that progress, especially technological progress, could solve many of humanity's seemingly intractable problems, such as disease, hunger, violence, and exploitation. Wells, a devotee of science, seemingly endorses this view at the beginning of The Time Machine, as the Time Traveller, an inventor, creates a machine that travels in the fourth dimension. However, as the story continues, readers see that the protagonist discovers a future in which the only thing that has progressed is humanity's savagery and the widened gap between the “haves” and the “have-not.” Using supporting evidence from the novel demonstrate this reality. Be sure to discuss the blurred line between good and evil (the Eloi and the Morlocks) as discussed in class. Minimum length: 2 pages, single spaced, 11 pt. font. Include a bibliography Remember to have introductory and concluding paragraphs and follow writing conventions. |

Remember when we talked about how the Eloi are not entirely good? They are apathetic to improving their lives, content to scavenge for food, play and not improve their minds - in fact, their minds are similar to a 5 year old? Whereas, the Morlochs are not entirely bad? They hunt and work together and use their brains to build a world and society, albeit underground? Human beings don't exist any more. Instead their two entirely opposite species. However, love of family, friends, the desire to learn and improve life is all but lost, however, the savage part of Human Nature continues. You need to discuss this in your essay. |
