Ali you were absent on International Day when we drafted up a plan for the Essay. Basically you are writing about how Michael and Kensuke's relationship changes from the beginning to the end of the novel. ONCE you have finished reading the novel. I want you to draw a table:


Relationship - Example from Novel
1. Strangers - see p.36 "My benefactor, whoever he or she was, had to be close by
2. Captor/Prisoner - Find a part of the novel when Michael says he feels like a prisoner - doesn't want him to build fire to escape
3. Father/Son -- Find examples illustrating their relationship as father and son - gives him food and blanket
4. Teacher/Student - Kensuke teaches Michael survival skills, Michael teaches him English
5 Friends They share past experiences, learn and support and respect each other


Then fill in the Essay Planner (it was in the package that went home to you)

Then write your first draft using paragraphs. You need to write introductory and concluding paragraphs.

Omar, please do. 11 pt Arial font is fine. Yes I would like you type your draft and send it to me at my email address, so I can read it and offer suggestions.

Read essay question. Follow the table we did on International Tolerance Day. It is late to be starting this very important assignment now after 8 pm when you have had nearly 2 weeks to do it.

It is not fair to the other students who organized their time and did the work. Today is the last day to hand in late EID assignments. Otherwise, your grade is zero.
