Advice for continuing home study...YEAR 7 ENGLISH & GEOGRAPHY

Good morning to all Year 7 students.
I hope you are all well.
In a short while I will send you another English assignment that you should complete and bring into school Sunday. There will also be a Geography assignment.

For now though a few words of advice for those of you that may be struggling with the idea and practicalities of home study.

First of all....attempt all you assignments even if you are lacking confidence. Teachers will review your efforts when you get back to school.

Secondly...use the forum to discuss assignments with your fellow students. Remember in a classroom YOU are the most useful resource.

Thirdly...Organise your time and space wisely.

You need to:
* Have a balance of good diet, water, daily exercise and sufficient sleep!
* Have self-belief. If you believe you can succeed - you can!
* Motivate yourself...a difficult task for some I know...but read on...it may help.

** Useful tips for motivation include:
* Break your work into manageable chunks - 30-40minute slots is a useful guideline.
*Make sure you have a DAILY TIMETABLE/TARGETS to include WORK and PLAY. When you have finished working REWARD yourself.
*Be DETERMINED to do the work.
* Take PRIDE in presentation and performance.

* Make sure your working ENVIRONMENT is appropriate for your needs-
- A room with DESK/TABLE, comfortable chair and all the EQUIPMENT you need.
- A room with lots of light - preferably natural light.
- A room where you will not be interrupted during your study time.
- Music for some also helps...you know the classical type that helps you think and concentrate or SILENCE...whatever is YOUR preference.

Lastly...review what you have done
* Be clear about what you have achieved.
* What else do you need to do?
* What did you find difficult? Who can you ask for help?
*What have you planned for your next work session?
