Y6 History Assignment: Daily Life in the Indus Valley

Introduction: Read Indus Valley text pgs 4-10, 14-18, 22-23

Your tasks:

1. Answer the following questions in your Humanities notebook:

a) How was the Indus Valley ruled?
b) What were their beliefs, faiths? How did they practice them?
c) Describe how their cities were constructed.
d) Why was water important? What did they systems did they design to manage water?
e) Describe and provide an illustration of a typical home.
f) What do we know and what don’t we know about their families? What do you think they were like? Provide evidence for your argument.
g) Who did they trade with? How was this accomplished? What routes have archaeologists discovered? Draw a map using proper mapping features to illustrate trade routes.

2. Using answers from the above questions, write a 500 word document using proper writing conventions and punctuation. Include visuals and a bibliography using the format given to you for your history project.

3. Prepare notes for a 2 minute oral presentation for class using Index cards.

4. Submit all your preparation for assessment Feb 22/10.


Note: This is an Application assignment weighted 30% of History Term 2.
Late assignments will be accepted one day after due date and can only achieve a C.
