Y5 History Assignment: Life as a Child in Victorian England

Introduction: Use Y5 History Link: The Victorians and follow instructions on sheet.

Your tasks:

1. Read Handouts “Queen Victoria” and answer comprehension questions in Humanities notebook

2. Read “How do you work” package. Take notes in Humanities notebook.

3. After reading “How do you work,” imagine you are an impoverished child living under these circumstances. Write a diary entry in your Humanities notebook describing your day. Word limit: 250 words.

4. “Life as A Victorian Child” Assignment. Using your notes and diary reflection, write about a 750 word essay including typical living conditions, school life, the work house, optional employment for children, orphanages and how you think their situation compares to impoverished Egyptian children today. Complete on A1 Paper (follow COPS, editing steps), prepare visuals and include a bibliography.

5. Prepare Index cards for Oral presentation. Due date: Feb 23


Note: This is an Application assignment weighted 30% History Term 2.
Late assignments will be accepted one day after due date and can only achieve a C.
