COLLINS PRIMARY EXPLANATION

Dear Y6 Students,

Please read the following explanations:

1) Polish your Alternative Point of View Fairytale and Non-Fiction presentation

Do you recall I told you to read a Traditional Fairytale and then rewrite it from the EVIL character’s point of view? For example, if you are Snow White’s evil step mother, you might cast Snow White as a spoiled, selfish, vain little girl. Write this in your Vocabulary/Literature notebook.

2) Complete your polished ending of “In the Dragons Claws”

A few of you have completed this assignment. Many of you are still at The Story Board stage. You were to take your story board and write an ending in paragraph form, this time adding dialogue. Complete this in your Vocabular/Literature Notebook.


3) Read The Adventure of the Dented Computer, answer Qs p 12

You will find this story on Page 11 of Collins Primary, Write a blurb (p.12 #6) in Vocab/Lit notebook.

4) Review notes on page 13. Complete Activity 1b in HomeWork book

5) Write your own story including a) genre, b) outline – setting, characters, plot and theme

Read #7 page 12, review p 13 Collins Primary and answer What kind of story is it? On page 3 of your HOMEWORK notebook – the one with spiral binding. Now write an outline, and first draft of your own story. Choose one of the genres: familiar setting, fantasy, fairytale, science fiction, or mystery in your GRAMMAR/Writing Notebook. We did a group warm activity a couple of weeks ago – Do you remember, Jan and Freda walked into the room….?”

6) Read Heroes and Villains p.14-15 Collins Primary, Complete Qs p 16, Exercise 17 in Vocab/Literature Notebook

7) Read p.18, Write your own spy thriller
Complete Activity 2a – your own spy gadget- do THIS exercise directly in HOMEWORK NOTEBOOK.

and then you ask that we do a story, so should we do
1. an introduction of a story
2. write a whole story?

Miss Batte, as Alia said, I don't understand, shall we write a whole story or only the introduction. You wrote two sentences, one sentence supports the whole story, and the other supports only the introduction.

I am sorry Hashem, but I haven't received any attachment. Which address did you send the polished end of Dragon Claws?

I think there is a great deal of confusion regarding the assignments. You need to write another story, but this time selecting a genre of your choice, whether it be familar setting, mystery, fantasy, fairytale, science fiction.

I told you can expect to do a considerable amount of writing this year.

Please keep all rough writing in the proper notebooks.

Lets hope we are back to school soon so we can sort it all out.
