Please remember that this exam is an evaluation of what you have learned during the term, all material has been taught in class. Students are expected to review the material to refresh their memory.

3) Anachronisms

i) What are Anachronisms?
ii) Worked examples
Found in Historical Skills Booklet (Given to students in PDF File) pages 17-21

4) Working with Sources

i) Types of Sources – Primary and Secondary
ii) Asking questions of sources

Found in What is History pages 12-17
Historical Skills Booklet (Given to students in PDF File) pages 10-16

5) Interpretation

i) Interpretations in History
ii) Richard III – An Evil Murderer

Found in What is History pages 18-23

6) Bias

i) Recognising bias
ii) Propaganda

Found in Historical Skills Booklet (Given to students in PDF File) pages 38-41

7) Causation

i) Different types of causes – Why did People go to America?
ii) Cause and Consequence
Found in What is History pages 24-27

Cool The role of the individual

i) The life and work of a chosen person
ii) The historical significance of that person Found in the Research project completed during Eid


9) Empathy

i) What was it like for West Indian Immigrants arriving in Post War Britain?
Found in What is History pages 32-37

EXAM FORMAT

Type of Questions:

A 90 minute paper

The following types of questions to be set:-

1) A literacy question – mix and match with a selection of key historical vocabulary.
2) A Cloze based question (blank filling) based on one key area with missing words included
3) A Timeline Question with accompanying questions
4) A True or False type Question
5) A selection of key terms to be defined by the students
6) A selection of sources focusing on a particular topic with questions requiring students
i) To show basic skills of deduction and extraction
ii) To write a piece of extended writing. This may be a summary type activity or a piece of empathy work.


Items needed for exam:

All answers can be on the examination script itself and this can be included in the student's portfolio. So just basic writing equipment needed (pen, pencil, ruler, eraser etc)

Don't worry too much. You will need to know what the word chronology means and be able to use a timeline. You will be fine.
